The Cedars Social
The Cedars Social is a 1970s style cocktail lounge located south of downtown Dallas across from Southside Lamar Lofts. Started by former Green Bay Packer Brian Williams, you would expect this place to be more a sports bar than a hip and urban lounge. The decor is straight out of a modern living room from the 70s complete with suede chairs, sofas, wood paneling and a library tucked into a cove for a more intimate setting. Bartenders are referred to as mixologist and judging by the drink menu, it is rightly deserved. Food wise, they offer everything from chicken and waffles to small plates featuring some the most creative food you can find anywhere in Dallas. On a Saturday night you can find an eclectic crowd and a DJ spinning soulful tunes in the corner. However, if your expecting to get your typical rap, or pop music in this place you are in for a surprise. You are more likely to hear music by Isaac Hayes and Crusaders than you would hear Jay-Z or Kanya West. This is not your typical Dallas bar/ lounge and it is the unexpected that makes it worth checking out.
Be sure to try the Juliet and Romeo from the drink menu.
